Finding Your Serial

What is a radio serial number?

A radio serial number is a unique code printed on your radio unit. We use this number to generate your unlock code.

It is not your vehicle registration number.

It is not your VIN number unless stated on your product page.

Where do I find my serial number?

The serial number is usually:

  • Printed on a white label on the top or side of the radio
  • Displayed on screen for certain models (for example some Ford units)

If your serial is on the label, you will usually need to remove the radio to access it.

Do I need to remove my radio?

In most cases, yes.

Radio removal keys are inexpensive and easy to use. We recommend watching a quick video guide for your specific vehicle before removing the unit.

Removing the radio correctly does not damage your vehicle.

Can I use my vehicle registration number?

No.

We cannot generate radio codes using a vehicle registration number.

Can I use my VIN number?

In some cases, yes.

VIN decoding only works if the radio is the original factory fitted unit.

If the radio has been replaced, we will require the radio serial number instead.

VIN based decoding is not instant and may take up to 1 hour during opening hours.

What happens if I enter the wrong serial number?

If the serial number is entered incorrectly, the generated code will not work.

Always double check your serial before placing your order.

If you are unsure, you can send us a clear photo before purchasing.

General Questions

My battery was disconnected and now it asks for a code — why?

This is normal.

The anti theft system activates when power is lost.

Your radio is not faulty.

Can a radio become permanently locked?

Yes.

Entering too many incorrect codes may permanently lock the unit.

Always verify before entering multiple attempts.

I bought a second hand radio without a code — can you help?

Yes, in most cases.

As long as you have the radio serial number, we can usually generate a code.

Entering Your Code

The code does not work — what should I do?

Before contacting us, please:

  • Confirm the serial number entered matches your radio
  • Ensure the code was entered correctly
  • Do not add extra digits

If it still does not work, send us:

  • A clear photo of the radio serial label
  • A photo of the screen showing the error message

We will investigate immediately.

Clear help when you need it.
For years, recovering a car radio code was more difficult than it needed to be. Drivers were often forced into slow, expensive, or unreliable options just to unlock something they already owned.
My radio says SAFE or LOCKED

This usually means too many incorrect attempts were entered.

Leave the radio switched on continuously until it allows another attempt. This can take between 30 and 120 minutes depending on the manufacturer.

Do not repeatedly switch it on and off.

How many attempts do I get?

This varies by manufacturer.

Most radios allow between 3 and 10 attempts before becoming permanently locked.

If you are unsure, contact us before entering multiple codes.
