How to find your SEAT serial number

The guide below will show you exactly where to find your SEAT radio serial number.

Switch the ignition and the radio on. A few SEAT units show the serial on the display when they are locked, and on some holding SCAN and MODE together (AM and FM on older units) brings it up. If a serial starting SEZ appears, enter it in the box above. Most Alana units do not show it, so go to step 2.

Push a pair of radio release keys into the slots in the front panel until they hold, then pull the unit forward by the keys. You do not need to unplug any wires. The serial is printed on the label on the casing. It starts SEZ and is 14 characters long, for example SEZ1Z3F6412082.

Note: the capital letter I and the number 1 look almost the same on these labels. Check carefully before entering.

Some later SEAT units display the serial by themselves, as in the photo. If yours does, it is the line starting SEZ. Enter it exactly as shown, checking the capital letter I against the number 1.

If SAFE shows but the radio will not accept a code, leave it switched on for one hour before you try again.

Which SEAT models have the Alana radio?
The Alana was the standard factory CD radio on the Ibiza 6L and Cordoba from about 2002 to 2009, and it was also fitted to many Leon and Toledo models of the same years. Later units are marked Alana MP3. The name ALANA is printed on the front panel, usually in the top right corner.
Can I find the Alana serial without removing the radio?
Sometimes. Switch the radio on and check the display first. On some SEAT units the serial appears next to SAFE, and on others holding SCAN and MODE together brings it up (AM and FM together on some older units). Many Alana units do not show it at all, and then the serial is only on the label on the casing.
What does an Alana serial look like?
It starts SEZ and is 14 characters long, for example SEZ1Z3F6412082. It is printed on its own line on the label, near the barcode. The label also shows the radio name and a part number such as one starting 6L0. Ignore those and copy only the line that starts SEZ, checking the capital letter I against the number 1.
My Alana says SAFE and will not accept a code. What now?
SAFE shows after the battery has been flat or disconnected. If two wrong codes have been entered, the Alana locks for about an hour. Switch on the ignition and the radio and leave both on for the full hour, then enter the correct code. Only enter a code you know belongs to this unit.
What do I get for my order?

Most Alana codes are emailed within 24 hours of ordering. SEAT codes are not instant, because each one is retrieved for your serial. Orders placed outside our working hours, Monday to Saturday 8am to 4pm UK time, can take a little longer.
My Alana came from another car. Will the old code work?
No. The code is tied to the radio serial, not to the car. If your Alana came from another car or a breaker, a code from the original service book will not match it, so read the serial on the unit fitted now. If the radio has been swapped for a different SEAT unit, the same SEZ method applies and our SEAT radio codes page covers it.
