Enter your 17-character VIN (quickest method)
The fastest way to get your code without touching the radio. Your VIN is printed on the windscreen base plate (visible from outside the car), the driver’s door jam sticker, or in your V5C logbook.

Remove the radio from the dashboard
Radio Removal
Remove the radio from the dashboard
If you cannot use your VIN, the serial number is on a label on the radio unit itself. You will need to remove it from the dashboard.

Older models (Clio I to III, Megane I to II, Scenic I to II, Laguna, Trafic): Insert radio release keys into the four small pinholes at each corner of the fascia. Push inward and apply gentle outward pressure. The unit slides forward. No wires need to be disconnected.

Newer models (Clio IV+, Captur, Scenic III+, Kadjar, ZOE, touchscreen units): Use a trim prying tool to carefully remove the surrounding trim panel, then unscrew the mounting screws and slide the unit forward.
Serial Number
Find the serial number on the label
Your serial number will be in one of these formats:

Letter + 3 digits (e.g. H758, A123). Philips or Blaupunkt unit. Often printed at the end of a longer barcode, in a box labelled "Security", "Pre Code" or "Code".

2811 prefix (e.g. 281150198RTC703). Enter the full number as your serial. Use the boxed number near the bottom of the label, not the part code at the top.

8200 barcode (e.g. 8200607918TJ110). Enter the full barcode number.

7700 barcode (e.g. 7700433948T0540). Enter the full barcode number.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why does my Renault radio need a code?
Renault radios are programmed with a security code at the factory. When power is cut (flat battery, battery replacement or removal of the radio), the unit locks and asks for the code before it will work again. This is an anti-theft feature and the code is unique to each radio.
What is the difference between the serial number and the VIN?
The serial number is printed on a sticker on the radio unit itself. The VIN is the 17-character identifier for the vehicle, found on the windscreen or door sticker. Both can be used to retrieve a Renault radio code, but only if the radio is the original factory unit. If the radio has been replaced, the VIN method will not work and the serial from the radio is needed.
Where is the serial number on a Renault radio?
The serial is on a sticker label on the back, top or side of the radio casing. To access it, you need to remove the radio using release keys or a screwdriver. Look for a 4-character code in the format of one letter followed by three digits. It may appear inside a box labelled "Security" on the label, or as the last four characters of a longer barcode.
How long does delivery take?
Short serial codes (4 characters) are delivered instantly in most cases. VIN-based codes are processed within 1 hour during business hours. You will receive your code by email.
Which Renault models does this cover?
We cover all Renault models sold worldwide. European models: Clio, Megane, Scenic, Grand Scenic, Trafic, Laguna, Master, Modus, Twingo, Espace, Captur and Kadjar. Latin American and international models: Kwid, Logan, Sandero, Sandero Stepway, Duster (sold as Renault in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina), Oroch, Koleos and Alaskan.
My VIN starts with UU. Is that correct for a Renault?
VINs starting with UU belong to Dacia vehicles sold in Europe. However, in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina the same vehicles (Duster, Logan, Sandero) are sold under the Renault brand with VINs starting with 9FB, 93Y or 8A1 — use the Renault service for those. Only European Dacia owners with a UU VIN should use our Dacia radio code service.
My code does not work. What should I do?
Check the serial number carefully. The 4-character code must be read exactly, and letters can sometimes look similar to numbers. If the serial is correct and the code still does not work, contact us and we will investigate at no extra charge. All codes are guaranteed.
Will I get the same code if I use my serial again in the future?
Yes. The code is permanently linked to your radio and does not change. Once you have it, you can use it every time the radio locks after a battery change. Keep it stored safely.
What is the clave de autenticación on a Renault?
Clave de autenticación is the Spanish term Renault uses for the radio security code — the same as "radio code" in English. It is a 4-digit number unique to your radio. The fastest way to get it is to enter your 17-character VIN above for an instant result. Renault VINs in Mexico and Latin America typically start with 9FB, 93Y or 8A1.
