Newer Mercedes head units, COMAND and Audio 20 or 50 on the NTG systems, lock with an anti-theft PIN after a battery disconnect or when a used unit is fitted from another car. We retrieve the 6-digit anti-theft PIN for your unit from its 14-character serial, the same code a main dealer looks up. Please read how it is used before you buy: the PIN is written to the unit with Mercedes diagnostic software, it is not typed into the radio.
The guide below will show you exactly where to find your Mercedes radio serial number.
OBD or label
Find your 14-character serial number
The serial is on a sticker on top of the head unit, or you can read it over the OBD port with Xentry. It is 14 characters long and starts with one of AL, GA, HB, HM, ME, PA, VT, CO or CM.
If your sticker starts with BE, enter it as HB instead (for example BE0728W7555729 becomes HB0728W7555729).
14 characters
Enter the serial to get your PIN
Type the full 14-character serial into the box above, with no spaces. We retrieve the matching 6-digit anti-theft PIN from the official database.
The PIN is then written to your unit using Mercedes diagnostic software (Xentry, Vediamo or DTS) with an OBD interface, which clears the anti-theft lock. If you do not have those tools, any Mercedes specialist can enter it for you. Please make sure your serial is exactly right, as there is no refund for a code retrieved against a wrong serial.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Which units and cars does this cover?
The anti-theft PIN for Mercedes COMAND and Audio 20 or 50 head units on the NTG systems, roughly 2004 onwards, across the A, B, C, E, S, CLS, GLC, ML, GL, SLK and other ranges. It is the code that clears the "anti-theft protection" lock, not the old keypad radio code.
Is the PIN enough on its own to unlock my unit?
No. The PIN has to be written to the head unit over the OBD port using Mercedes diagnostic software, Xentry, Vediamo or DTS, with a suitable interface. If you do not have those tools, any Mercedes specialist or auto electrician can enter it for you in a few minutes. It is not a code you type into the radio like an older Mercedes.
Why has my unit locked?
These units show anti-theft protection when the battery has been disconnected, or when the unit has been swapped in from another car. Fitting a used COMAND from a breaker or eBay is the most common reason. Once the correct PIN is written to the unit, the lock clears.
Where do I find my serial number?
On a sticker on top of the head unit, or read over the OBD port with Xentry. It is 14 characters and starts with AL, GA, HB, HM, ME, PA, VT, CO or CM. If it starts with BE on the sticker, enter it as HB.
Do you guarantee the code, and what about refunds?
The PIN is retrieved from the official Mercedes database against the serial you enter, so please check your serial carefully. There is no refund for a code retrieved against an incorrectly entered serial. If we cannot find a match for a correctly entered serial, you are refunded in full.
My older Mercedes asks for a code on the radio, not on a screen.
Then you want our standard Mercedes radio code page instead, where the keypad code is cheaper and instant. This page is only for the newer COMAND and Audio units that show "anti-theft protection" and need the PIN written with diagnostic software.
How long does it take?
These are retrieved by hand from the database, so delivery is within the estimated time shown at the top of the page during opening hours. Orders placed outside opening hours are done the next working morning.

This service provides the anti-theft PIN only. Unlocking the unit requires Mercedes diagnostic software (Xentry, Vediamo or DTS) with an OBD interface, or a specialist who has them. No refund is given for a code retrieved against an incorrectly entered serial number.
