How to find your Audi serial number

The guide below will show you exactly where to find your Audi radio serial number.

Audi Chorus / Concert

Remove the radio to find your serial

Insert the four radio release keys into the corner holes of the fascia and apply gentle outward pressure. The unit slides forward. You do not need to disconnect any wires.

The serial is on the label on the back of the casing, starts with AUZ, 14 characters (for example, AUZ2Z3C1420538).

Insert the four release keys into the corner holes and slide the unit forward. The serial is on the label on the back of the casing, starts with AUZ, 14 characters (for example, AUZ1Z4H7755256).

Audi RNS-E Navigation

Find your serial on screen

You do not need to remove the unit. Power it on and look at the bottom of the display, the serial number appears along the bottom edge of the screen.

It starts with AUZ, is 14 characters long, and the sixth character is always 7 (for example, AUZBZ7H7145296).

Why is my Audi A4 radio asking for a code?

Power was cut to the unit, a flat battery or a battery change being the usual cause, and the anti-theft lock activated. Enter the correct code once and it will not ask again until the next time power is lost.

Which radios were fitted to the A4?

Mostly the Concert, Symphony and Chorus units, plus the RNS-E navigation on higher specs. All carry a 14-character AUZ serial and all are covered. The RNS-E can also show its serial on screen, which saves removing it. If you have another Audi, our main Audi radio code page lists every model we cover.

Where is the serial on an A4 radio?

On the label on the casing, a 14-character number starting AUZ. Slide the unit out with release keys to read it, no wires need to be disconnected. RNS-E owners can use the on-screen route instead.

How do I enter the code on an A4?

With the ignition on the display shows SAFE, then 1000. Set each digit with the preset buttons, then confirm. If the radio shows 2 SAFE it has had too many wrong attempts, leave it switched on for about an hour and it will accept entries again.

I have had the car years and never needed a code before. Why now?

The code only comes into play when the radio loses power. Many owners never see it until the first battery change. Nothing has gone wrong with the unit, it just needs its code once.
