Fitted to Honda radios without a navigation screen. Turn on the ignition and radio, then press and hold preset buttons 1 and 6 simultaneously (on some radios, hold 1, 6 and Power together) for about two seconds until the display changes. The serial appears either as a U number and an L number (for example, U2154 L2135) or as a single S/N number (for example, S/N 2602353). Enter whichever format appears on your screen.

To show your serial number on screen, open the hidden diagnostics screen. Hold one of these until it appears:
• The button on the top of the radio + Power + Menu
• Power + Eject + Home
• Power + Menu + the Day/Night button (about three seconds)

Then touch Detail Information & Setting → Unit Check → HMI Unit or DA Unit to see your serial. Tap Return to exit.

No diagnostics buttons? Touch Home → Info Menu → System / Device Information → System Info and read the device number.

Older Navigation (2003 to 2012)

Fitted to navigation units on many 2003 to 2012 models. With the ignition on, press and hold Map (or Guide), Menu and Cancel together until the diagnostics screen appears, then select Unit Check and Navi ECU to see your serial.

On some units you instead press and hold SEEK or SKIP with CH or DISC, then PWR/VOL, and the serial appears on screen. Note it down exactly as shown.

How Do I Find the Serial Number on My Honda Fit Radio?
Turn on the ignition and radio. Press and hold preset buttons 1 and 6 at the same time for two seconds. The serial number will appear on the display as a U number and an L number (e.g. U1234 L5678). Enter both parts in sequence. See the full guide above for navigation system variants.
How Do I Enter the Radio Code on a Honda Fit?
With the radio showing a code prompt (usually a flashing line or blank display), use the preset buttons 1 through 6 to enter each digit of your code in sequence. Press the power button to confirm once all digits are entered. The radio will unlock immediately.
What If My Honda Fit Radio Shows Err or Code Error?
If the display shows an error after entering the code, you may have entered it incorrectly. The radio allows a limited number of attempts before it locks. Turn the ignition off, wait a few minutes, then try again carefully. If the radio locks, leave the ignition on for one hour to reset the counter.
Do All Honda Fit Models Use the Same Code Retrieval Method?
Most Honda Fit models use the 1+6 button combination to display the serial. Earlier models (pre-2009) may display the serial differently, and navigation-equipped Fit models use a separate method involving the SEEK and CH buttons. All methods are covered in the guide above.
Will a Used Honda Fit Radio Need a New Code If I Swap It In?
Yes. The code is linked to the radio unit, not the car. If you fit a second-hand radio, you will need the code for that specific unit. Retrieve the serial from the used radio's display and use it to get the correct code.
