Find My Serial
Start by holding down pre-set buttons 1 & 6 together. 6000CD Radios will begin to cycle through different information on-screen.
Your serial will begin with “V” followed by six digits, the example serial number is “V197905”
If the serial did not display, try buttons 2 & 6, a serial number beginning with “M” followed by 6 numbers will appear on-screen.

How to remove your Ford radio.
To obtain the serial for the 4000RDS requires holding down the pre-set buttons 2 & 6 together.
If"M000281" serial does not display, the radio will need to be removed from the dash.
Press and hold down buttons 2 & 6 together, after 2 – 4 seconds the radio will display the serial number.
For example “M021055” as shown in the image below.
If the serial does not display, the radio must be removed to gain access to sticker-label.

Removing a Ford radio is very easy and does not require any specialist skills, radio release keys are designed to press into place which allows the radio to be taken out.
Often this is due to the code not being input correct, if the code you are trying to enter is still on screen press & hold either 5 or # to process the code into the radio system. If the code disappears and does not turn on, the radio code may be incorrect and must be re-checked, always re-check the serial number provided was correct as one incorrect digit will give an incorrect code.
If the radio is not allowing the code to be entered, disconnect the car battery for 1 hour, this will reset the radio and allow for 3 more final attempts of input.
LOCKED 13, the incorrect code has been entered into the radio 13 times, radios displaying LOCKED13 cannot be decoded online and must go to a Ford dealership.

Radio Removal Keys
Popular radios such as the 6000CD, 4000 RDS & 6006CD are removed using radio removal keys.
All keys are on amazon which are inexpensive.
Push the keys into each corner of the radio until they click into place.
This will free the unit to be pulled forwards and the label will look similar to the following example.
The Sony MP3, 6000CD Mk2, & 4500 RDS systems are slightly different but just as easy.
You will need a prying tool to remove the plastic trim surrounding the radio as the example shows.
Also require is a Phillips screwdriver, to remove the four screws holding the radio in place.
