Why does my Skoda radio show SAFE?
SAFE appears when the radio loses power, for example after a battery change or the battery going flat. It is a factory anti-theft lock. The radio will not work until you enter the correct 4-digit code.
What does a Skoda serial number look like?
All Skoda radio serials begin with SKZ and are 14 characters long. An example is SKZAZ5L1562150. Navigation unit serials also begin with SKZ but have the number 7 as the sixth character. The capital letter I and the digit 1 can look very similar on labels, so check carefully.
Do I need to remove my Skoda radio?
Yes. All Skoda radios require physical removal to access the serial label. You will need a flat-head screwdriver and prying tool for the trim surround. No wire disconnection is needed.
