You do not need to remove the unit. Power it on and look at the bottom of the display. The serial number appears along the bottom edge of the screen.

It starts with AUZ, is 14 characters long, and the sixth character is always 7 (for example, AUZBZ7H7145296).

Why is my RNS-E asking for a code?
The unit lost power and its anti-theft lock activated. It happens after battery changes and repairs, and the fix is the same as any Audi unit, enter the correct 4-digit code once.
Can the RNS-E show its serial on screen?
Yes, and it saves pulling the unit out. The RNS-E can display its serial through the screen, the guide above walks through the route. If you cannot get the screen method to work, the AUZ serial is on the label on the casing.
What does the RNS-E serial look like?

How do I enter the code on the RNS-E?
